The synthetic ingredients used to produce modern perfumes are manufactured extremely inexpensively. These mass produced ingredients allow for a huge profit margin on the finished product.
If perfume companies were to produce perfume in the traditional way and mark up the price in the same way they already do, that fancy bottle on your dressing table would be thousands of dollars to purchase. The company wouldn’t be making as much of a profit and fewer people would purchase perfume. Why would they change something that works so well for them?
Perfume will continue to be mass produced in this way until the general population understands the dangers and stops buying. Changes in consumer buying patterns have already happened in the skincare, cosmetic and home care industries. Its only a matter of time before perfume goes the same way to more natural and organic options.
